‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special To Air In The US On Christmas Day

BBC America has announced via Twitter the news that American Doctor Who fans have been waiting to hear: Yes, we will be getting the Doctor Who Christmas Special, and it will be broadcast on December 25!

The Christmas Special, which is entitled A Christmas Carol, is written by show runner Steven Moffat and directed by Toby Haynes. As expected, Matt Smith will be starring as the Eleventh Doctor, and Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will be reprising their roles as Amy Pond and Rory Williams (Mr. Pond!) respectively.

Interestingly, this will be the first time in Who history that Doctor Who Christmas Special has aired in both the UK and the USA on the same day. When interviewed previously about what fans can expect with A Christmas Carol, Steven Moffat remarked that, "We're going for broke with this one. It's all your favorite Christmas movies at once, in an hour, with monsters and the Doctor and a honeymoon and – oh, you'll see." He has also been quoted as saying that this one will be the "Christmassy Christmas special ever." [...]
